A little bit of EVERYTHING - January/February 2014

Homework these days is a hit or miss kind of thing. There are days that are easier than others. This particular day all was well and no crying took place. We have tried to spread things out so that with more planning we avoid meltdowns. 

A few things I want to remember:

Mia's Homework in PreK:

Mia has letter of the week practice, name writing ( first, middle and last) and sight word practice each week. She gets the papers on Thursdays and they are due on Monday. She also brings magazine pictures for her letter of the week each Monday and a show and tell item on Fridays. 

Luka's Homework in Kindergarten:

Luka has a weekly packet with a mix of writing, reading and math. He also has sight word spelling/reading test each Friday. The lists are individualized and Luka is currently working on some hard words. Against, usually, because, etc. EEEEK! 

 We also have reading log every night. He is currently reading on a 2nd grade 4th month level. According to a test he just took his math skills are also close to that level. We are so proud of him. His teacher is amazing and he has learned SO much this year. 

 Mia has been going to Ft. Worrth with Mimi quite a bit lately to visit PawPaw, Judy and Nanny. She loves her one on one time with sweet Mimi. This is one day when we came to pick her up after school.

When it is really cold outside Luka waits for me to run my bags in my portable. He has a nice little set up while he reads...or on a few occasions hides from me.

We celebrated Emma's birthday at Main Event in Plano.

Avengers have been renamed - JETS 2.0. Practices are in full swing.

Since adopting our guinea pigs we have checked out a few books to learn about our new family members.

Snow day in January! The kids lasted approximately 2 minutes outside before they wanted to go in. Lol!

We got to stay home and relax one Friday. This was the view from the playroom. It was SOOOO stinkin' cold. 

100th day of school at Hillside. Kidnergarten had a super fun day and Mimi came to volunteer. 

We are loving Saturday night church. 

On Valentine's Day Luka joined my third graders as we took a trip to a nearby nursing home. We passed out cards and visited with people who live there.

It has been a crazy, busy month. That seems to be the pattern in our lives. 

We are excited about Spring Break - just 8 more days. :) 

January/February Catch Up

Last weekend while the boys headed to watch SFA Lumberjacks play baseball in Arlington with Zach and Braxton, the girls all met up at the Arboretum. It was a gorgeous day! We had a blast. We renewed our membership and are really looking forward to spending more time exploring the new Children's garden this year. Love these sweet girls and their Mommas.

Lunch was full of giggles and laughter. 

I got to join Luka's class for their Valentine's Day party. It was so fun. 

One weekend we headed to the school for me to get a few things done. Well, scooter races and playtime were much more important and we enjoyed the gorgeous day outdoors. Who wants to be stuck inside grading when your whole family is playing outside the door?

Mia has been working really hard on her reading. She was reading to Kinsler one night. So precious!

February Fun

After about 50 attempts I have finally figured out the issue behind not being able to update the blog with pictures. Now that we are back in business, it is time for a major catch up. 

Weekends are about to get busy with soccer and baseball. This past weekend we enjoyed the beautiful weather in our front yard. On Friday we also took a family walk to the park with the doggies. It was much needed. It was a crazy, long, exhausting week of conferences and pure chaos. Love weekends with my loves. 

Where did January Go?

Blogging more in 2014 is clearly not going well so far. First post of 2014 and it is the end of January now February. Wheeew! It has been busy two months. It has been fun. It has actually been relaxing ( that was back in January - lol)


Things are starting to get crazy this week with baseball and soccer and adopting guinea pigs and speed stacking tournaments...We are insane and there is nothing more to say ;) Dear February - be kind to us ;)
