Destin 2012 - Day 1

We just returned from a week long, AMAZING family vacation just outside of Destin, Florida. To say we had fun would be an understatment. Relaxing was the goal and that we definitley did. Mimi and Papa joined us and we were so glad to have them there! The kids had such a great time on their first trip to the beach while Mommy and Daddy enjoyed getting away from the craziness of our everyday lives. No laundry, no errands, no distractions....We loved it so much that we decided to book two extra nights while we were there. Mimi and Papa headed home Thursday morning while we got to enjoy two more days of family fun.

We left Rowlett on Saturday night around 8:30 and made it to our condo 12 hours later. The kids did amazing on the trip there. They slept majority of it which was nice and stress free.We stoppped at 5:30 am in Semmes, Alabama to eat breakfast at the Waffle House and stretch our legs a little.

Welcome to Blue Mountain Villa 12! This beautiful place was our home for the past week and we just couldn't have loved it any more. The location was PERFECT, the condo was super cute  and prettier then the pictures we looked at when we booked it. We felt right at home! The beach right in front of it was straight out of a magazine.

Our unit was the bottom one with the pink patio chair and all our million things.

The view from the inside was to die for and the fact that we could just walk out from the living room straight down to the beach was so awesome and perfect for a family with two little ones.

Did I mention that the beach right in front of the condo was just gorgeous? Crystal clear water and snow white soft sand. The kids were beside themselves ( as well as the adults).
PURE JOY!!!

The view from the patio. The green belt was perfect for a boy who loves all things sports.
First thing every morning was checking out the view making sure it was still there ;)
Recently updated kitchen with everything we needed for the week.
The bathroom was super cute, too! The shower was beautiful and so HUGE!
After taking in the first moments and observations in, we headed to the grocery store to stock up for the week while Daddy and Papa took naps after their exciting 12 hour drive from Dallas. We made it back, unpacked the groceries, and headed to the beach.

 BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

The sand bar was a big hit!

The shower area at the top of the stairs by our condo was a big hit all week. The kids pretty much rolled in the sand right before going up just because they wanted to shower and spray off.
After being at the beach for  few hours, we came up, had lunch, enjoyed some movie time and some very yummy popsickles.
Then we went to admire the view some more and see who all was going to be hanging out on the beach that day.

That first night we headed out for our family walk down the beach to look for crabs.

After our family walk we dropped the kids with Mimi and Papa and we got to take a nice, romantic walk on the beach without the two little peeps running in seven different directions.

Our first day at the beach was a wonderful start to our vacation.

THANK YOU to our sweet and amazing Daddy/hubby who works so hard for our family. He held down the fort for 3 days while I got to enjoy a fun 3 day trip with my mom to San Francisco, coached tball, got the kids to where they needed to be each morning, fed them dinner, gave baths, he took Luka to a birthday party Saturday morning, did yardwork majority of his afternoon, packed, cleaned our his car and then drove 12 hours straight without one single complaint. This is a man with a heart of gold who loves us so very much!

We are so thankful for this wonderful week at the beach and all you do for our family.
We love you so much! You are the BEST!

Possum Kingdom Lake Weekend

Today Justin competed in the Trifecta Triathlon at Camp Grady Spruce. We had such a great weekend as used this event as an excuse to head out of town for the weekend.

On Friday we packed up headed out to Possum Kingdom Lake to meet up with Mimi and Papa for a little pre-race camping fun. We got there a little later then planned due to catching both Dallas and Ft. Worth traffic. They found us a great spot right on the lake and we enjoyed the nice fall tempratures and their company. We played and played and played...baseball, soccer, skipping rocks, feeding the ducks, running around the camp grounds pretending we were in the Olympics, watching movies in the camper, eating yummy food, playing dominoes, etc. Papa and Daddy took the kids to play some games while Mimi and I got to read and nap in peace. The best nap ever, I tell ya!

We actually wore long sleeves and were not buring up in September, imagine that!

Well, the weekend did not go without pouty attitudes...
Waiting for Daddy on their new chairs they scored at the little camp store.
So this picture needs to be explained...So lately Mia and Luka have adpoted their Daddy's love of movie lines. One of our favorite family movies is Rio and even though there are several movie parts we like to qoute as a family "BIIIIIIIIRDS vs. MONKEEEEEEEEEEYS!!!!" is Daddy's favorite. So we all yelled it while he ran by us and headed to to finish line...nope, he couldn't hold it in....he yelled at right back at us!

Luka wanted to use the "Cheese and sprinkles..." line while Mia was very focused at first to only cheer "Goooooo Tri4Him". Mimi and Mommy were into it...well, Mimi had the arm going to while I had the privilage of capturing it on the camera :)

I was laughing so hard that I did not get that many pictures of Justin as my hands were shaking from all the laughter.

What a privilage it is to watch this special guy we all love so much race and represent Tri4Him. This course had a shorter swim but longer bike and run with many hills...do you think that phased him at all...especially after not being able to train as much as normal this last month and a half? NOPE, did not phase him one bit. He has come such a long way and every race is a reminder of how much exactly he managed to overcome over the years. This weekend he crossed his 13th triathlon finish line and we are more proud then ever before. We are waiting for the offical results but to us he is already #1! :)
