Even American Ninja Warriors Get Blisters

So the other day while we were at Burger Lake the kids went to town on the nearby playground. I really thought it was only going to last a few minutes but they ended up playing for a good while. They were having so much fun! Luka informed me he was doing the American Ninja Warrior ( as in the show he watched with Daddy of these crazy strong guys trying to make it through very tough obstacle courses). Mia joined in and before I knew it they were going up the slide the wrong way and making sure they made their challenges tough.

I mean, WHY would you do this thing the right way when the "ANW" way is so much more fun!

Now this is where things got veeeeeeery dramatic!

Mia ( starting to freak out): " Oh no! Oh no! Oh no! I have blisters!"

Luka: "It's okay, Mia! I have boo boo, too!"

Mia (in a whiny voice): "Let me see it, Lute."

Luka: " Hold on, it's here somewhere on my arm"
Mia: "Where it is, Lute...I don't see it"

Luka: "I know it's here somewhere...hold on..."

( Mia is holding her hand very carefully while Luka searches)
Mia ( starting to revert back to full on crying ): "You don't have a boo boo and I still have my blisters...Oh noi...Oh no...Oh nooooooooo!"
Luka: "Mia, don't cry. Let me see them....OUCHY...those ARE really bad"
And the rest does not need to be captioned...she screamed and screamed and was totaly freaked out. Her brother telling her they looked bad sent her OVER.THE.EDGE!

I mean, LOOK AT THAT LIP! I did stop taking pictures and loved on my sweet girl for a very long time. In her defense they were pretty bad and the day after they looked terrible. It was just the matter of helping her forget about them and distract the girl as much as possible. Baka gave her a huge band aide which seemed to have helped a bunch.

Burger Lake 2012

Today we got up early, packed up and headed to Ft. Worth for a fun day at Burger Lake with Mimi, Aunt Christy, Uncle Cary and their boys. We left the house at 8:30 and made it home at 7:15 this evening. Such a fun day in the sun! The kids had a great time and several times asked why we don't go there every day. They were going, going, going the whole time and now that they are more comfortable in water this place was even more enjoyable. The smaller diving board and one of the kiddie slides were their favorites. Last year they were very hesitant about those but this year they had no reservations. They both jumped of that diving board at least a 100 times. They had a lot of fun playing on the sandy beach, too.

TriWaco 2012

This weekend we headed to Waco for a camping trip/TriWaco race that Daddy was participating in. It was a wonderful weekend and we made lots of new family memories. Last year Justin and I drove out to Waco ( twice in one day - lol) on our own and we had a great time. This year was even better as the kiddos, Mimi and Papa got to join us.

We had a blast at this really neat lake spot with beach entry that Mimi and Papa found before we got there... went to a yummy dinner at the Hilton with the Tri4Him team from all over Texas... came back home for more relaxing and lake time that evening. We ended the night by watching The Big Miracle and eating popocorn. The next morning we got up early to watch Daddy compete. The weather was wonderful! He did GREAT once again- 3rd in his age group! WOOOHOOO!!! We are so proud of him! His knee insury messed up his racing schedule this year but our man is still rocking it out. Two big races this year and two podium finishes!

Waco is a huge race but one of my favorites. Our camping spot was wonderful - great job Mimi and Papa!
